Earlier this week there was a promotion from Microsoft that went out. http://borntolearn.mslearn.net/btl/b/weblog/archive/2011/03/01/pass-a-virtualization-exam-and-get-a-complimentary-technet-subscription.aspx
Basically it was about the fact that if you pass any virtualization exam (70-652, 70-659, 70-669 or 70-693) you will receive a comlimentary TechNet Subscription.

Great news! Right?
Well… not so much for me! :-(

I’m a very anthousiastic geek about virtualization, so when the exams came out I went studying and passed them as soon as I saw the chance.
Because of this I am not eligible for this promotion since I don’t have any virtualization exams left to pass.
To put it in simple terms: I’m f*cked…

Don’t get me wrong, I still think promotions like this one are a good thing since “virtualization” is been promoted.
However, this promotion will reward only some people but people like me, who were fast and already passed the exams, are completely overlooked.
I always thought learning content and passing the exam early so to your knowledge and certifications are up-to-date was a good thing… but now?

So my conclusion…
People would only be rewarded if they wait for a promotion from Microsoft but if they would take action on their own, let’s say by passing the exams early, they would not be!
Isn’t that a little bit like the world upside down? I think so!

Please feel free to comment… :-)
